Discovery Day
Camp has been in the Reno/Sparks community for over seven
years. As the only all girl day camp we are definitely
unique. Any girl can participate in Discovery Day
Camp, even if they are not a Girl Scout.
Here are this
year's Discovery Day Camp sessions - choose your summer

SESSIONS
WEEK 1: GIRL
SCOUT GOURMET
June
9-13, 2008
Calling
all chefs! Do you love to help in the kitchen? If so, don't
miss Girl Scout Gourmet! We all need food to stay alive and
be healthy but did you know that food can also be a lot of
fun? This week we'll be stirring, beating, mixing and
blending as we learn ways to prepare delicious, healthy
meals. We'll make our own snacks, explore food from around
the world and learn how to eat great and stay healthy!

WEEK 2: MAD SCIENTIST!
June 16-20,
2008

Is it science or is it magic? Put your investigative powers
to the test and figure out why things work the way they do.
Science is everywhere - in a spider web, a ray of light, and
even a pile of dirt! This week we will observe and discover
the exciting world of science that is around us everyday. We
will do experiments, make discoveries and create fun and
exciting concoctions!

WEEK 3: DANCING WITH THE GIRL SCOUTS
June 23-27, 2008
Who
needs to dance with the stars when you can dance with the
Girl Scouts? Put your dancing shoes on and join us for a
week of toe-tapping fun! This week we will tap our feet,
kick our heels and whirl ourselves around to the sound of
the beat! As we dance the days away, we will also learn
about the sounds we're dancing to - those sounds called
music! What are the different types of music? How is music
made? Don't miss this week of singing and dancing
excitement! This week we will celebrate Nevada's western
history with a trip to the Reno Rodeo!

WEEK 4: ON BROADWAY!
July 7-11, 2008

Can you picture yourself performing on stage in a Broadway
show? If so, this week of camp is for you! We will learn
about all it takes to put on a successful show, from writing
and directing a play, to memorizing lines and rehearsing;
we've got it all! On Friday we will put our skills into
action when we put on a "Just-Off" Broadway production of
our very own!

WEEK 5: PRETTY AS A PRINCESS
July 14-18, 2008
Lead
the pampered life! Indulge in the royal treatment as you
learn to live a life without stress. A princess always looks
her best and we will learn how that is done! Life as a
princess requires good manners and proper etiquette, so you
will learn proper greetings from around the world, table
manners and phone etiquette. At the end of the week, all the
princesses will show off their style with a "Pretty Princess
Tea Party!"

WEEK 6: WORD UP!
July 21-25, 2008
Put
your imaginations to work this week and use your creativity
to become a writer. From writing short stories to designing
picture books and using codes to send secret messages and
keeping a journal, this is where you can let your
imagination run wild and see what it turns up! Use writing
to connect with Girl Scouts in other parts of the country
with your very own pen pal!

TIME
Discovery Day
Camp is open for your convenience from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm
Monday through Friday. Girls may arrive and be picked up at
any time, with communication to the staff. Activities run
from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Before and
after care is included in the day camp fee!
AGES
ALL girls are
invited to participate in Discovery Day Camp! Girls who are
in 1st - 6th grade or who are ages 6-11 are the perfect age to enjoy day camp.
COST
ALL weeks are
$120 per girl each week they attend day camp.
*Note -
Program Aides are $35 per girl each week they attend day
camp.
A $10
registration fee will be added to the fee for any girl who
isn't already a Girl Scout.
A $25 deposit will be necessary necessary to reserve
a spot in this all girls day camp. Campership are available
to all families.
