Leadership opportunities at camp are for girls who want to learn leadership skills that transfer to many other areas of life, including school and future careers. Girls in Counselor-in-Training sessions at Camp Wasiu II or helping as a Program Aide at Day Camp plan, coordinate and implement camp activities for younger campers and spend time shadowing camp staff. These intensive programs are the beginning of a life-changing experience. These future leaders learn about behavior management, expand their repertoire of camp skills and develop teamwork, effective communication, and decision making and conflict resolution competencies.
In Counselor-in-Training I girls going into grades 9-12 learn the skills necessary to be a great camp counselor! Spend your time developing your leadership, communication, and camping abilities while working with younger campers. This fun 12 day training is designed for you to build skills in camp programming and operations, camper development, group dynamics and outdoor living, all while making life-long friends. Note that applicants must submit a completed Counselor-in-Training Application at the time of registration.
In Counselor-in-Training II girls entering grades 11-12 review and refine their awesome camp leadership skills formed in CIT I and complete additional “shadowing” and internship components in this 15 day session. Specialization areas include counselor, waterfront, program, health and food service, or administration. Note that applicants must have completed CIT I and they must submit a completed Counselor-in-Training Application at time of registration.
Help at Summer Adventure Day Camp as a Program Aide. Girls entering grades 7 -12 can have fun and put their Program Aide skills to the test working with first through third grade girls at Summer Adventure Day Camp.
