Here are this year's Summer Adventure Series Programs - choose your summer adventure!

 


PROGRAMS

 

SPORTS CLINIC WITH THE RENO ACES

Grades 1-12

 

Pitch, Hit, Run!  Come to a clinic at the new Reno Aces stadium where you can try out the fundamentals of the game in a fun environment. Meet the players, the coach and the team mascot at the pre-game clinic.  Participants will be divided by skill level.  This is a two part event in which girls and their family will have a break between the clinic and the game to go out to lunch.  Admission to the game, a $7.50 food voucher and a Reno Aces patch are included.

OUTDOOR GOURMET

Grades 4-6     PA  HH

 

Spend the day experimenting with a variety of outdoor cooking techniques and fun recipes then eat the delicious results.  With your special cooking skills, your very own cookbook, and a camp stove you made yourself, you'll be an experienced outdoor camping gourmet! Girls will work towards earning the Outdoor Cook badge. Adult volunteers are needed so if you are interested in volunteering for this event please note on your registration.

CAMP WASIU II EXTREME MAKEOVER TEAM

Grades 2 and Older with Troop/Family/Adult     PA  HH

 

You are the Makeover Team! Be a dynamic member of the big changes at Camp Wasiu II during the summer of 2009. Girls and adults can make a difference in the future of their camp by donating time to painting, cleaning and sprucing up. Major projects will also be taking place for family members in skilled trades. The time you spend at camp will be filled with fun and camaraderie. The meals, campfire and fun are all inclusive. All participants will receive a patch to commemorate the year that Wasiu II received an Extreme Makeover. Come for a day or for the entire week.

LEAVE A LEGACY WEEKEND AT WASIU II

Grades 7-12     HH

 

This is the "let’s-do-it" weekend for older girls who want to leave a legacy for Camp Wasiu II campers for years to come.  A weekend of making a difference for Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors is sure to be a fun filled adventure.  The specific project(s) will be determined by the girls registered for this event at the pre-event planning meeting on Monday, June 15. Includes Event Patch.

GOING ON A TREASURE HUNT

Grades 4-6     PA  HH

 

The “X” marks the spot. Which way is it to the treasure of the Girl Scouts? Compasses, maps, and GPS equipment will help you find your way and stay safe while the rangers at Galena Regional Park help lead a day-long program of orienteering and adventure.  Who knows what treasure is waiting to be discovered! Girls will work towards earning the Finding Your Way badge.  Adult volunteers are needed so if you are interested in volunteering for this event please note on your registration.

FAMILY OVERNIGHTER AT THE RENO ACES BASEBALL PARK

Grades K-12     Family Event!

 

Watch the Reno Aces take on the Portland Beavers with your family and then enjoy fun-filled sleepover on the playing field.  Girls and their family or troop will be treated to post game fun and the opportunity to watch a movie on the big screen announcement board from the comfort of your own sleeping bag under the stars.  Meet the players, the coach and the team mascot.  Admission to the game, a $7.50 concession voucher,  pizza and a Reno Aces patch are included.

MAXIMUM CHALLENGE

Grades 7-12

 

Reach new and exciting heights at the Team Leadership Challenge at Project Discovery. Start your day with progressively more difficult ground-based challenges and learn how to work together effectively as a team, develop your leadership skills, and dramatically improve your interpersonal communication. The team that is formed in the morning only gains strength in the afternoon as the challenge level is heightened both figuratively and literally as you take to the trees on a high ropes course. Challenges, a liberal dose of accomplishment, and laughter bring the group to the end of their day.

TAHOE TREK - BACKPACKING 101

Grades 7-12     HH

 

Do you enjoy hiking and camping? Are you ready for the next adventure in the outdoors? Backpacking will allow you to see the lesser-traveled areas of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Discover the teamwork and fun that await you on your Tahoe Trek.  This is hands on training for backpacking fun.   Backpacks and group cooking equipment will be provided and campers will be responsible for their own food and personal equipment. Specifics will be discussed at the MANDATORY pre-event planning meeting on Tuesday, July 21.  Girls will work towards earning the Backpacking Interest Project Patch.  Adult volunteers are needed so if you are interested in volunteering for this event please note on your registration.

WASIU II WEEKEND ADVENTURE

Grades 1-12 with Troop Leader/ Female Adult     HH

 

Get ready to make some memories at Camp Wasiu II.  Brownie through Ambassador Girl Scouts and their troop or favorite female adult will stay in the platform tents and have the opportunity to experience all that Camp Wasiu II has to offer.  Girls and adults will work together to cook over a campfire, create imaginative crafts, and explore nature.  Friday nights dessert get together will allow troops to help plan out the fun they will have Saturday.  Girls will work towards badges and patches during this great weekend get-away.  Includes Event Patch.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURER

Grades 1-3 with Troop/Adult      PA  HH

 

Have fun as you discover what camping is all about.  You’ll put up a tent, participate in a Sleeping Bag Relay, learn and practice simple knots, make up your own group “storm”, explore on a special scavenger hunt, and have fun with bandana tricks.  Roast marshmallows and eat yummy s’mores while learning fun camp songs.  Girls will work towards earning the Outdoor Adventurer and Ready, Set, Go Camping Try-Its.
