Cookies & Nuts
Girl Scout Cookie Program
The Girl Scout Cookie Program is an American tradition. The much anticipated cookie sale takes place once a year, and gives girls the tools they need to become future business leaders and entrepreneurs. Cookie sales typically start in January where registered Girl Scouts take pre-orders from customers and then deliver the cookies starting in February. During the month of March, Girl Scouts can be found outside our local retail and grocery stores selling directly to the general public.
Nut/Candy & Magazine Program
From September through November, Girl Scouts can take part in the annual Nut/Candy & Magazine Program. Girls take orders for nuts and candy and make deliveries to customers in November. Just in time for Thanksgiving! Magazine subscription orders are taken for both existing and new subscriptions.
It’s a fact
Participation in product sales programs is an important part of Girl Scouting. Generations of women tell us that participating in these annual programs gave them the courage, confidence, and character to pursue a career in business. In fact, 80 percent of women executives and business owners are former Girl Scouts.
The 5 Skills of the Girl Scout Cookie Program
The Girl Scout Cookie Program is a voluntary activity for girls. The experiences girls gain and the leadership skills they acquire last a lifetime. Through the Girl Scout Cookie Program, girls develop five essential skills:
- Goal setting
- Decision making
- Money management
- People skills
- Business ethics
Every cookie has a mission: To help girls do great things!
The $760 million Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led business in the country. It generates immeasurable benefits for girls, their councils and communities. Girls set goals to support their chosen activities for the year, fund community service and leadership projects, attend summer camp, travel to destinations near and far and provide events for girls in their community.
