Girls today face greater social pressures than girls from just a few years ago. In a world where issues such as substance abuse, school violence and teenage pregnancy are prevalent, girls are carrying messages of uncertainty about themselves and the future with them through adolescence into adulthood. However, enforcement of positive behaviors will help alleviate those messages, and give girls the resources to grow strong in mind, body, and spirit.

Community involvement and support are essential to giving troop leaders the resources and support required so that no girls are turned away and ALL girls may participate. There are many ways to invest in the lives and futures of Girl Scouts here in your own community. The decision to give is a personal one. No amount is too little or too much. Some of the opportunities to impact the lives of local girls include, but are not limited to, the following:

Donor Undesignated funds are used to respond to the most immediate and critical Council needs. Through donor undesignated gifts, staffing, facility repair, and maintenance goals are supplemented. All Council publications, which allow the flow of important information to parents, volunteers and troop leaders, are made possible through undesignated donations. Donate now! On-line Pledge Donation

Donor Designated funds can be used to provide capital improvements or to develop new programs. Capital donations help maintain and update camp facilities at all eight of our Girl Scout camps. Gifts designated to program needs and resources help defray the costs of delivering Girl Scout programs to girls who need them most, in their own communities: local shelters, faith-based organizations, treatment facilities. and local YMCAs.

Family Giving gifts are a special present from you, to your daughter. Parents and other family members are invited to support Girl Scouting, and its programs, which reflect the values you want to instill in your daughter. Please click here to find out more about family giving.

Girl Scout's Community Foundation of Western Nevada Endowment Fund is a way to give to the Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada locally through a foundation's endowment. Annual Giving Campaign gifts ensure that the Council is able to expand and maintain camp facilities, and develop new program initiatives that reflect the interests and concerns of today’s girl.

Campership Fund gifts ensure that all girls have the opportunity to experience special camp memories in a safe, fun environment. Archery, swimming, scuba diving, cooking, nature walks/hikes and canoeing are some of the activities open to girls at Girl Scout Resident Camp.
