MEMBERSHIP
A contemporary,
informal education program, Girl Scouts offers girls ages
5-17 opportunities to discover the fun, friendship and power
of girls together. Chartered by the Girl Scouts of the USA,
Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada serves members in 23
counties throughout northern Nevada and eastern California.
In 2007, one in every eleven girls served by our
council called herself a Girl Scout!

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES & EVENTS
Girl
Scouting helps girls discover, connect and take action with
hundreds of different council-sponsored programs and events
that meet the diverse interests and passions of girls. This
past year, 3,134 girls and family members participated in 90
council-wide events. Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada
concentrated on six leadership-building initiatives that are
results-driven, including:
HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Girls develop self-knowledge and life skills to make
healthy choices.

Girls implement strategies for staying physically
active.

Girls develop a positive self-image, sound values and
a strong social conscience.
