COUNCIL PATCH PROGRAMS:

The Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada in collaboration with many excellent community organizations has created patch programs which are specific to the council. Each of these patch programs is designed for girls at all age levels.

TAHOE RIM TRAIL PATCH PROGRAM

The Tahoe Rim Trail Patch educates Girl Scouts about trail building, trail use and trails in general by using the Tahoe Rim Trail as an example. Girls may utilize the Tahoe Rim Trail or other trail systems to complete the patch requirements, including the Pacific Crest Trail and the Rudy Crest Trail. The Tahoe Rim Trail Patch Program packet is available in the council shop in Reno. Patches may be purchased in the shop.

PEACE BEGINS AT HOME PATCH PROGRAM

October is Domestic Violence month, but every day can be an opportunity to learn about domestic violence. Girls will have an opportunity to identify characteristics of healthy and unhealthy relationships, create peace posters and perform community service for a number of local agencies. For more information contact Laurie Betker, Program Specialist, at 775.322.0642, ext. 240.

Have you ever toured a BLM (Bureau of Land Management) wild horse facility? Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada and the BLM joined together to create a program to explore the rich heritage of Nevada's wild horses and burros. Girls can learn about wild horses and burros, how they got here, who takes care of them and take the opportunity to go tour a BLM wild horse facility. Purchase the Leader and Girl Scout Guides from the GSSN council office and earn the Wild Horse and Burro patch!
