Building a Council Culture of Kindness

CEO-message

Dear Girl Scout Volunteers,

I am very excited to share more with you about building a council culture of kindness!

GSSN’s Journey

Over the past three years, we have taken on an exciting endeavor – working to make processes easier on our volunteers and members. These changes have been primarily focused on adapting new technology. We were proud to be one of the first councils in the nation to adopt the Volunteer Toolkit (VTK), create our new and improved website, streamline our online membership and event registration process, and implement our GSSN Helpdesk  – all with your needs as a Girl Scout Volunteer, in mind.

(Check It Out: Our data shows that our staff team has responded to 67% of all volunteer inquiries via the GSSN Helpdesk within one business day. Not bad, huh? Thank you to all who have submitted your questions via this process. As we continue to use this tool, we will be able to get the Girl Scout answers you need even more quickly!)

What’s Next

Now that we have our technology in place, we’re looking forward to building even stronger relationships with the backbone of our Girl Scout Movement - our volunteers. Through many discussions, brainstorming, and possibility thinking around strengthening relationships – one clear theme continues to emerge: KINDNESS.

So we’re ready to take our next big leap. And we want YOU to weigh in… how can we become the ultimate Council of Kindness?

Expanding our in-person trainings? Recruiting girl kindness ambassadors? Highlighting kindness rock stars at Service Unit meetings?

We recognize there's no way we could unleash the inner G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader) in thousands of girls in our community without your support, commitment, and generosity of time and heart. You are a crucial piece of this extraordinary puzzle, and we want to make sure we are giving you all the tools and support you need to prepare her for a lifetime of leadership and be the mentor she needs.

Today, I would like to invite your ideas around this council initiative. How can we truly be a sister to every Girl Scout? How can we really own, express, and spread kindness through our mission? Please email me or call 775-322-0642. I can’t wait to hear from you!

Sincerely,
Pam Czyz
