Walk in the Veterans Day Parade with GSSN


Girl Scout troop prepares to march in Veterans Day Parade

Girl Scout troops, families, and friends are invited to participate in the parade with the Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada group. 
Honoring those who have sacrificed to protect our country.

At 11:11 a.m., a traditional opening ceremony takes place at the the Virginia Street Bridge and includes a fly by. The parade starts at 11:20 a.m. and marches through the heart of downtown Reno, starting from the Virginia Street Bridge and heading north to 5th Street. Spectators are encouraged to show their support along the parade route and announcers will review the parade from several locations; the Virginia Street Bridge, 2nd and Virginia streets, the Reno Arch, and 4th Street. Ending between 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., the commemoration takes place rain or shine.

The theme for the 2019 Veterans Day Reno Parade is commemorating the centennial of Veterans Day (formally Armistice Day, 1919-2019).

Cost: FREE!
Registration Deadline: Thursday, October 24

GSSN will be registering a walking group only. If your troop or Service Unit plans to enter a vehicle or float, please be sure to submit a separate entry to the parade organizers. 

PLEASE NOTE: Troop Leaders are responsible for supervision and ratios of the troop and its friend/family members. Prepare accordingly and read through the Safety Activity Checkpoints under Parades and other large group gatherings. More specific information will be provided as the event gets closer.
