Marketing and Communications Internship

The intern will work with professional staff in a nationally recognized non-profit organization to ultimately promote the Girl Scout mission: To build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.
Overview: In a supportive, creative environment, the intern will enhance the overall communications goals of the Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada Council throughout our 23-county service area using the GSSN website, GSSN social media sites, and GSSN collateral to connect and engage with our targeted audiences. The intern will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects to strengthen their Marketing and Communication skills while increasing the visibility of GSSN in our council area.
The Marketing and Communications intern will also be assigned to travel to local camp programs in the region and create content to promote camp programs in the following year.
Responsibilities:
Work with GSSN Marketing Manager to:
Social Media
· Oversee and manage all GSSN social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
· Create and schedule all content for social media posts working 1 month ahead at a time, and curating content for each social media channel.
· Manage interactions with members by responding to comments and Direct Messages
Email Marketing
· Facilitate communications for all GSSN departments to the appropriate audiences including:
o Monthly Events Newsletters
o Seasonal Promotions
o Grade level and area specific communications.
Website Maintenance
· Using Adobe experience manager, make website updates, upload forms, publish blog articles, and keep the website up to date with national promotions.
Staff
· Meet agreed upon deadlines for all assigned tasks and communicate progress with supervisor
· Complete weekly time sheets and work log, attend trainings or other applicable events as needed
